2019 Games Review
2 Star Games
Escapists: Good idea but very frustrating
CIV VI: I find Civ way too complex to play nowadays
3 Star Games
Mega Man 11: Fine in very easy mode but not for me otherwise
Metro Exodus: This wasn’t what I was expecting at all. A good game but the Metro series is not for me.
Death Coming: Less fun and more frustrating then I was expecting. And crashed a lot!
4 Star Games
Zoo Tycoon: Very by the book and a little dull for a simulation game, but featured baby animals
Lego Incredibles: Very easy and short Lego game
Oxenfree: A good horror story
Iconoclasts: Way too hard for me and a bit difficult for me to follow the story
Lego Movie 2: A little different for a lego game, no level and several hub worlds, but also feels a bit lacking
Telling Lies: Sequel to Her Story
Hero Express: Vehicle based physics game that is quite good.
5 Star Games
Little Nightmares: Not scary but unsettling
Qube 2: Improves on the first game in every way
Red Dead Redemption: Incredible looking game that is so big, and fun to play as well
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider: Tomb Raider games are kind of by the book now but that’s not to say they’re not enjoyable
Super Mario Party: Enough new ideas to make it quite enjoyable.
Yokus Island Express: Pinball based Metroidvania, I was expecting it to be frustrating, but it was really enjoyable
Spyro Reignited: Remake of one of my favourite Playstation 1 games, the first game is still the best
Rime: Clever puzzle adventure game.
Lego DC Villains: A proper sprawling Lego game with an original story.
Wargroove: Advance Wars with a Fire Emblem aesthetic, maybe not as good as Advance Wars but close.
Steamworld Quest: Probably the weakest Steamworld game but also an excellent card-based RPG
Yoshis Crafted World: More Nintendo Platform excellence
Wandersong: Charming, not quite rhythm-based platformer
Hitman GO: Board game Hitman
Super Luckys Tale: Fun if a little basic platformer.
Top 10 Games of 2019
Spiderman: One of the best games for capturing the feeling of swinging through the city as Spiderman
Forza 4: A realistic (ish) recreation of Edinburgh is a highlight of this racing game
Celeste: I persevered with Celeste and managed to complete the whole base game with no modifiers which I am really proud of. A tough game. Fun and good story too.
Dragon Quest XI: Did I play it (for almost 100 hours)? Who knows?
Dragon Quest Builders 2: You get a whole island to build on this time which is so much fun.
Pokémon Sword: Apart from the slightly rushed final sections I enjoyed the quality of life
improvements and the new Pokémon.
My Time At Portia: The crafting game I’ve dreamed of, I spent so many hours playing Portia, shame it crashes a lot or I’d be tempted to replay.
428 Shibuya Scramble: Brilliant story, told in a unique way.
Super Mario Maker 2: I’m not much of a designer myself but the story mode and especially the best of the player made levels are up there with the best of Mario
Hitman/Hitman 2: Superb, inventive sandboxes, very detailed environment. When a plan
comes together it is a an incredible felling. Excellent replay value as there are so many ways to eliminate your target
